July 7, 2005 - Sweet Georgia Brown in Polish [Ann Bancroft]
Actress Ann Bancroft passed away today. In her, and her husband, Mel
Brook's 1984 remake of the film To Be Or Not To Be, they play a husband
and wife theatrical team performing in Warsaw - the Bronskys. Jack Benny
and Carol Lombard made the original movie in 1942 without the number.
The film opens with the two of them doing a stunning, on stage, song and
dance rendition, of the very American number, Sweet Gerogia Brown. What
made it such a hit with American audiences, was that they did the song in
perfect Polish.
To the Polish-American community, Ann Bancroft should be remembered for
that performance, alone.

Termin nadsylania prac uplywa 1 wrzesnia 2005 roku.
Ogloszenie wynikow nastapi 4 pazdziernika 2005 w siedzibie
National Arts Club na Manhattanie podczas Dnia Polskiego.
